M.Tech. Admission Categories

Regular Admissions (Through CCMT/GATE - Category A.1)

  • Candidates with a valid GATE score can seek admission to the M.Tech programmes through the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. (CCMT) process.

  • Eligible candidates are entitled to receive scholarships in accordance with the norms prescribed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) for a maximum of four semesters, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) (Category A.2.1)

  • Admission to M.Tech. programmes under the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) is conducted in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

  • The programme is open exclusively to sponsored permanent faculty members serving in AICTE-recognised degree or diploma institutions.

Sponsored (Category A.2.2 )

  • Admission under the Sponsored Category is open to candidates who are nominated and financially supported by their employing organization.

  • Candidates admitted under this category are not eligible for Institute scholarships.

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of two years of full-time work experience and submit a Sponsorship-cum-Clearance Certificate in the prescribed NITK format along with the application.

Self-Financed ( Category A.2.3 )

  • Admission under the Self-Financed Category is open to candidates who satisfy the prescribed eligibility requirements.

  • Candidates admitted under this category are not eligible for Institute scholarships.

  • Selection is based on the candidate’s performance in the qualifying examination, a national-level written test, and a technical interview conducted at NITK, with appropriate weightage assigned to each component as determined by the concerned Department Postgraduate Committee (DPGC).

ADMISSION THROUGH ICCR

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) admission route provides eligible international students with the opportunity to study at NITK Surathkal through scholarship schemes sponsored by the Government of India. ICCR, under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs, facilitates the admission of foreign nationals from partner countries to premier educational institutions across India.
