The NITK Students' Council

 

NITK Students’ Council works under the leadership of a President, supported by a Vice-President, Secretaries, and a Joint Secretary. The Council serves for a full academic year and is further strengthened by several dedicated support committees : Alumni & Placement Committee, Academic Activity Committee, Health & Wellness Committee, Sports Committee, Incident Committee (for Cultural fest), Engineer Committee (for Technical fest), Incub8 Committee(Entrepreneur & business fest). These committees collaborate closely with the central Council to organize events, represent student interests, and enhance campus life through targeted initiatives.

The mandate of the Students’ Council is to coordinate and regulate all aspects of student life at NITK.

 

The Students’ Council, in collaboration with institute stakeholders, strives to create a vibrant and progressive student environment through the following objectives:

  • To actively encourage and support a wide range of student-led academic, cultural, and extracurricular initiatives that contribute to holistic development.
  • To nurture leadership, teamwork, and organizational competencies among students by facilitating structured opportunities for engagement and responsibility.
  • To provide a constructive platform for identifying student concerns and encouraging open, solution-oriented dialogue through regular interaction forums.
  • To cultivate an informed, responsible, and participative student community, while promoting values of inclusivity, social awareness, and mutual respect.
  • To streamline administrative and logistical processes for recognized student activities, ensuring smooth coordination for events, venues, and resources.
  • To maintain a collaborative channel of communication between students and the institute, ensuring that student perspectives are appropriately represented in relevant discussions.
  • To align student aspirations with the broader goals of the institute, working towards academic excellence, campus well-being, and community engagement.
  • To promote a positive, proactive, and solution-driven student culture by supporting initiatives in innovation, sustainability, and student welfare.

Structure

 

The President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, PG Secretary, Ph.D Secretary, Alumni & Placement Committee(APC), Academic Activity Committee(AAC), Health & Wellness Committee(HWC), Sports Committee, Hostel Council, Engineer, Incub8, Incident, and all elected Class Representatives and Nominated Persons shall together be known as the NITK Students’ Council.

The Students’ Council Core led by the President supported by a Vice-President, General Secretary , Joint Secretary , PG & Ph.D Secretaries. The basic outline and structure is as follows:

The Students’ Council has been and will continue to be instrumental in fulfilling Vision 2026, and we urge every student of this prestigious institution to actively participate, contribute, and engage in shaping a stronger student community.

We envision a vibrant and value-driven student leadership at NITK — one that leads with integrity, fosters unity through a shared vision, and empowers every student to rise as a contributor to the progress of Bharat. Our goal is to cultivate a campus culture where academic excellence, moral responsibility, and national consciousness move hand in hand — preparing future leaders who think beyond themselves and act for society and the nation.
